Welcome to the West Midland Family Center

West Midland Family Center

Dow COP Welcomes New Director

West Midland Family Center and the Dow College Opportunity Program would like to welcome Terri Malek-Madani as the new Dow COP Director. Terri joined the program in February 2007.

Terri grew up in Hemlock, Michigan and now calls Midland her home. Immediately upon graduating high school, Terri joined the U.S. Navy. Through the Navy she received an NROTC scholarship and attended the University of Michigan. She was then commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. More recently, Terri has studied communication at Purdue University and raised two wonderful children. Her children are both studying at the University of South Dakota, so she has spent a lot of time on Interstate 80.

Terri has lived all over the United States and has traveled abroad several times. Her most interesting travel experience was when she taught a 5-day seminar in Kazakhstan. She loves to travel, read, hear live music, and spend as much time outdoors as she can. She hopes to pick up a pair of snowshoes soon so that she can really enjoy these snowy Michigan winters. Terri is very excited about becoming a part of the West Midland Family Center team and plans to be around for a very long time.

Greetings From Terri!

Greetings Students and Parents!

I am so excited about becoming a part of your lives and helping you achieve your goals through the Dow College Opportunity Program. I am in the process of learning about this job, this community, and all of you and look forward to your help and feedback.

I have a lot of experience with college and universities, having taught at both. So I am very familiar with academic campuses and cultures. I hope this will be helpful to you. You may also be happy to know that I love to travel! I have traveled to 43 states in the U.S., to Europe 4 times, and once to Costa Rica. I am anticipating more travel fun with the Dow COP students.

You’ll learn more about me as we get to know each other over the next few months. I hope to learn more about each of you as well. You’ll be my local guides in the beginning, so don’t hesitate to educate me about what Michigan has to offer. (I have been away from Michigan for a while, but am now here to stay!)

Call, email me, or stop by anytime! I look forward to chatting with you.
