Early Learning

West Midland Preschool - M20 Site
September through May
Program runs Monday through Thursday,with 2 full day classes offered from 8:30AM - 3:30 PM. Our Great Start Readiness Program is for children who will turn 4 years old by December 1st of the enrolling year (but not yet 5 years).
Parents are invited and encouraged to visit our classroom at anytime. Family fun nights and parent learning experiences are an important component of the program.
Thanks to funding through Michigan Department of Education, we are able to offer this preschool program for FREE to all who qualify. You do not have to be a Midland County resident to apply for our preschool program.

West Midland Preschool is now offering Nature Preschool at the Chippewa Nature Center, for more information visit Chippewa Nature Center. WMFC is also offering Bullock Creek Community Preschool at the Bullock Creek Elementary School.

Food Program
School Year and Summer

West Midland Family Center is able to provide program children with healthy meals and snacks thanks to funding through the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the USDA Summer Food Service Program.

Full-day preschool programs provide breakfast, lunch and PM snack. Children must be enrolled in the program to receive the meals. (CACFP – school year)

The After School Program provides snack to the children when they arrive from school. Children must be enrolled in the program to receive the meals. (CACFP – school year)

WMFC Summer program provides lunch and a PM snack for any children age 18 or younger. Enrollment is NOT required to receive meals. (SFSP – during WMFC summer program session)

Childcare-Kinder Kare
Year Round
Licensed onsite childcare is available year round through our partnership with KinderKare. KinderKare is the perfect place for working parents to access affordable, high quality, state licensed care for their children. Kinder Kare provides developmentally appropriate activities for children ages birth through 12 years. The program operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM until 6:30 PM. WMFC Family Resource Room
The West Midland Family Center has a wonderful Family Resource Room. Our Family Resource Room is available to all WMFC families. In the resource room, you will find children's books, toys, totes and a variety of resource information relating to parenting and family life. Subjects include:

  • Fun Family Activities and Crafts

  • Raising Happy Children

  • Potty Training

  • Teen Years

  • Step Families

  • Divorce

  • Fatherhood

  • Job and Career

  • First Aid

  • Teachable Virtues

The resource room has a Toy/Books/Tapes lending program for those of you who would like to borrow materials and take them home. You can also check out "Buddy Bags".

Buddy Bags are interactive totes for parents and children. Each tote contains a book or other activity that is focused on a particular theme. The totes provide parents with fun opportunities and fresh ideas for learning and entertainment that they will enjoy with their children.
