West Midland Hosts Annual
“Thanks For Giving Celebration” Awards Ceremony

West Midland Family Center recently hosted its annual “Thanks For Giving Celebration” event.

Years ago, “Thanks For Giving” was established as a tribute to, and celebration of, volunteers, donors and all those who play an integral role at West Midland, including the families that WMFC serves. This year the event was held in conjuction with National Family Week.

The action packed evening began with a ceremony to recognize some of the very special volunteers that, over the years, have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to furthering the WMFC mission. Awards were also presented in honor of National Family Week.

Award Recipients included:

  • “Together, each of these individuals along with the hundreds of other volunteers, provides thousands of hours of meaningful work at the Center. We couldn’t accomplish our mission without them,” stated Susan Love, West Midland New Initiatives Coordinator.

    The awards ceremony was followed by a dinner catered by Northwood University.

    Approximately 250 people attended the event. The Center buzzed with activity and laughter as guests participated in an evening full of fun, family events.

    Guests spent time registering for prize giveaways, visiting agency booths, playing games or simply visiting with old friends. Concurrent with the ongoing events there were agency representatives from a variety of Midland County human services organizations providing information and additional activities for all.

    Members from the Michigan Community Blood Center were even on hand to give community members the opportunity to donate blood to the local blood bank.

    Agencies that participated in the event included:
    American Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, MMCAA, Zumba, CMH, Midland County Health Department, Midland Tennis Club, Gateway Martial Arts, The ROCK, North Midland Family Center, Railway Community Center, LOGOS, Midland Area Partnerships for Drug Free Youth, Midland County Great Start Coalition, Chippewa Nature Center, Family Children’s Services, MSU Extension, and the Dow College Opportunity Program.
