Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities
WMFC is always in need of volunteers. Volunteers can "work" in a variety of areas such as preschool, elementary youth and teens! Special events, tutoring, bingo, clothing room and EFP always need volunteers! Please contact Gail Crosby at (989)832-3256 to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Tutoring
Our tutoring program has a need for special people who are willing to work with children of all ages in all subjects Contact Gail Crosby @ 832-3256 for more information about tutoring opportunities at the West Midland Family Center.

"Special Skills"
Are you interested in demonstrating your woodcarving skills, showing off some new dance steps, teaching the art of tying fly fish lures, or something more? Our children, and even our adults, love it when visitors come and show them new things! Please contact Gail Crosby @ 832-3256 if you have a "special skill" or talent that you would like to share!

Bingo
Our Bingo king, Gene Dauer, is always looking for good Bingo volunteers to help out at our Saturday night Bingo. Contact Gene Dauer for more information, 832-3256.

Emergency Food Pantry (EFP)
Year Round
Food donations are always welcome at our emergency food pantry. Your food donations are used to fill orders for those who call in who are having a hard time putting food on the table for whatever reason.

Our food pantry has a list of things that are typically needed. They also have a list of things that they are not allowed to accept. The food pantry is part of the Midland County Food Pantry Network. Please contact Diane DeMott, 832-3256, if you have any questions regarding our food pantry or would like to make a donation.

Clothing Room
Year Round
Our free clothing room is often one of the busiest places at the Center. It is open during the Centers regular business hours.
In our clothing room, needy families often find coats, boots, books, or blankets. Children's clothing is always one of our most needed items. The selection is usually large and varied depending on the donations that come in on any given day, from the giving people in our community. Our clothing room is always available to help fill the needs of those who might find themselves a doller short on any given month.

Clothing donations are taken at most times that the Center is open, provided that we have the storage space. Simply call ahead and let us know that you are coming, and we will make sure that your donation reaches those in need.

If you are bringing a large number of clothing items, we ask that you call ahead to insure that we have storage room available to handle your donation, and to insure that we are ready for you when you arrive. We are looking for groups willing to rotate the care of the clothing room (sort and organize).

For questions about our clothing room, please contact our clothing room volunteer, Diane DeMott, 832-3256.
