Family SupportYear Round
WMFC offers a wrap-around program for families who are in crisis or searching for ways to understand their ever-changing family. All family support programs are offered in a comfortable setting, with childcare provided, snacks during meetings and limited transportation. In addition to our traditional programs wrap around services include: counseling, home visits, individual consultations and referrals. Please contact Renee Young, Family Services Director at 989-832-3256 for more information or to review your family's needs.
Free Clothing Room
Our free clothing room is often one of the busiest places at the Center. In our clothing room, needy families often find coats, boots, books, or blankets. The selection is usually large and varied depending on the donations that come in on any given day. The Clothing Room is open during the Center's regular business hours.
Clothing donations are a valuable part of the Center, and we welcome donations at all times of the year, provided that we have the storage space. Children's clothing is always one of our most needed items.
If you are interested in donating your gently used clothing, simply call ahead and let us know that you are coming. If you are bringing a large number of clothing items, we ask that you call ahead to ensure that we have storage room available to handle your donation, and to ensure that we are ready for you when you arrive. After your donation reaches us, we will make sure that we put it into the hands of those in need.
It takes many, many man hours to keep the clothing room neat, organized and well stocked because of the volume of clothing that we receive and distribute to the community. We often need help sorting and organizing clothing. Volunteers are always needed to help care for the clothing room.
For questions about our clothing room, please contact Melina Garcia at 832-3256 or at email@example.com additional information.
Emergency Food Pantry
The Emergency Food Pantry Network of Midland County distributes food at six sites at strategically located facilities throughout Midland County. The West Midland Family Center is one of those sites. WMFC partners with the Emergency Food pantry by providing volunteers and staff members to fill daily food requests.
The food pantry will accept any non-perishable food items. There is not a refrigerator for storage for the West Midland pantry, but a freezer is available. Food donations are welcome year round, and are used to fill orders for those in need and are having a hard time putting food on the table for whatever reason. We also Judy Wirtz at (989) 832-3256 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or would like to make a donation.
Christmas Help for Families in Need
Throughout the year, the essence of generosity is continually demonstrated at the West Midland Family Center, but at no time is it more evident than during the holiday season when the Center is a whirlwind of activity. Each year over 800 individuals are served through the phenomenal giving of the West Midland Family Center and the many donors and volunteers that link hands to help make Christmas a very special time for so many.
At WMFC, community members are helped through either the Sharing Tree Program or the Adopt a Family Program. Sharing Tree is a United Way of Midland County program that accepts applicants in early October. The Adopt a Family program is a WMFC program that may be available to those who qualify and are not receiving help from the Sharing Tree Program.
For more information on these programs or to help in this outpouring of love, please contact Renee Young at 832-3256 or at email@example.com
